About the event
Verity Howard is an artist who uses clay as a medium for drawing and monoprinting to create sculptural, slab built, ceramic forms. These works explore mystery, trigger memories, generate atmosphere and evoke a sense of place. Verity takes inspiration from the landscape, history and culture in rural Herefordshire.
Verity will speak about her practice, inspirations and will demonstrate processes that are central to her own work. Firstly, she will demonstrate techniques for monoprinting onto clay slabs with coloured slips and how to draw, mark make and create a range of dynamic printed surfaces on clay. Secondly Verity will demonstrate her slab building process, offering tips and tricks for making more complex ceramic forms with recesses, angles and curves. There will be time at the end for questions and answers.
