Introduction to Underglaze and Wax Resist with Ruby Byrne

A demo and workshop hosted by Ruby Byrne, graduate of Cardiff School of Art and Design Ceramics Degree, where she will show you the many ways in which she uses underglazes and wax resist in combination to create the surface illustration of her functional and sculptural piece.

These techniques will include sgraffito and mishima on leather hard clay, wax resist and underglaze painting as well as use of wax resist when glazing.

Ruby will demonstrate how she uses these processes within her practice, which will then be followed by a workshop where you will be able to try out these techniques on pre-prepared clay tiles or thrown pots, on your choice of leather hard clay or bisqueware.
